Experience the traditional New Year’s Eve Concert of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra and enjoy a musical firework display in the magnificent Festival Hall of the Vienna Hofburg. A unique venue in the heart of the city, perfect for starting an unforgettable New Year’s Eve.

Exciting waltzes, overtures, and polkas by the Strauss brothers and Franz von Suppé are on the program. In addition, four renowned opera singers will delight with arias, duets, and quartets by Franz Lehár, Johann Strauss Son, and Emmerich Kálmán.

The Program

As is the tradition, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra plays the passionate and romantic melodies by Josef and Johann Strauss, Franz Léhàr and Franz von Suppé.

These include iconic works such as “Wiener Blut” (Vienna Blood Waltz) or the polkas “Ohne Sorgen” (No Worries) and “Eljen à Magyar”.

You will enjoy popular arias from “Fledermaus” (The Bat) and “Csardasfürstin” (The Gipsy Princess), as well as the waltzes “An der Schöne blauen Donau” (Blue Danube Waltz) and “Frühlingsstimmen” (Voices of Spring Waltz).

Vienna Hofburg – Festival Hall

The Festival hall (Festsaal) is the largest hall in the Vienna Hofburg with almost 1,000 m2.

The impressive ceiling paintings by the painter Schramm show the motto of Emperor Franz Joseph I. “Viribus Unitis” (With united forces).
Eduard Veith and Viktor Stauffer have immortalized personalities from Austrian history in the lunettes and octagon fields below.

The Festival Hall was originally planned as a throne room, but was never used in this form because the monarchy ended before its completion.
